چکیده

A P300 Speller is a brain–computer interface (BCI) that enables subjects to spell text on a computer screen by detecting P300 Event-Related Potentials in their electroencephalograms (EEG). This BCI application is of particular interest to disabled patients who have lost all means of verbal and motor communication. Error-related Potentials (ErrPs) in the EEG are generated by the subject’s perception of an error. We report on the possibility of using these ErrPs for improving the performance of a P300 Speller. Overall nine subjects were tested, allowing us to study their EEG responses to correct and incorrect performances of the BCI, compare our findings to previous studies, explore the possibility of detecting ErrPs and discuss the integration of ErrP classifiers into the P300 Speller system. & 2011 Elsevier B.V. Online Detection of P300 and Error Potentials in a BCI Speller

Error potentials (ErrPs), that is, alterations of the EEG traces related to the subject perception of erroneous responses, have been suggested to be an elegant way to recognize misinterpreted commands in brain-computer interface (BCI) systems. We implemented a P300-based BCI speller that uses a genetic algorithm (GA) to detect P300s, and added an automatic error-correction system (ECS) based on...

Development of a Brain Computer Interface (BCI) Speller System Based on SSVEP Signals

BCI is one of the most intriguing technologies among other HCI systems, mostly because of its capability of recording brain activities. Spelling BCIs, which help paralyzed people to maintain communication, are one of the striking topics in the field of BCI. In this scientific a spelling BCI system with high transfer rate and accuracy that uses SSVEP signals is proposed. In addition, we suggested...

Automatic Recognition of Error Potentials in a P300-Based Brain-Computer Interface

An error potential (ErrP) is an innate event-related potential generated when a subject makes a mistake, and, more relevant to brain-computer interface (BCI) applications, when the BCI itself behaves differently from the user intent. For this reason, error potentials are nowadays attracting attention in the BCI field and the presence of ErrPs has been studied already in a few BCI paradigms. In ...

Feasibility of Error-Related Potential Detection as Novelty Detection Problem in P300 Mind Spelling

In this paper, we report on the feasibility of the Error-Related Potential (ErrP) integration in a particular type of Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) called the P300 Mind Speller. With the latter, the subject can type text only by means of his/her brain activity without having to rely on speech or muscular activity. Hereto, electroencephalography (EEG) signals are recorded from the subject’s sca...

سنجش عملکرد سامانه‌های رابط مغز و رایانه P300 Speller به‌ازای ماتریس نمایش ردیف و یا ستون (RCP) و نمایش حروف زبان فارسی

As a Brain computer interface system, BCI P300 Speller tries to help disabled people and patients to regain some of their lost ability with allowing communication via typing. The ability of personalization is one of the most important features in a BCI system, so the typing language as a personalization factor is an important feature in a BCI speller. Most prior researches on P300 Speller has f...
